New CCEJN Coordinator!

May 6, 2013
Hello everyone,

My name is Cesar Campos and I was recently hired to work as the CCEJN Coordinator.  Before CCEJN I worked for 2-1-1 Fresno County building an Emergency Operations Plan that prepares 2-1-1 Fresno to become a hub of information during a county-wide emergency.  In doing so, I increased the capacity of the project and mobilized volunteers to engage in disaster response efforts.  I worked extensively with community based organizations, media, government officials, and businesses to create this plan.  In looking forward to my work with CCEJN, I plan to use similar coordinated approaches to increase the capacity of CCEJN to make a larger impact on preventing  the cumulative health impact of environmental injustices in the valley.

I graduated from the University of California, Merced in 2011 where I received a Sociology B.A.  I chose to major in Sociology because I seek to work in areas that expand the educational attainment, health access, and financial stability of vulnerable populations.  While attending the university I participated in research studies that sought to understand the situation of underrepresented populations (i.e. first-generation students, LGBT communities, hate crime victims, etc.).  I also realized the power of grass root movements to create social change.  I understand how important it is for these movements to use education as a way to mobilize people.  I hope to use this knowledge to educate the public about important environmental issues and in doing so provide them the language to demand changes.

Once again, I am extremely excited to be a part of CCEJN and I hope to continue and enhance the work that so many of you have already started.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me for anything.  Thank you.
